MAZAL TOV ON THE BIRTH OF YOUR BABY!

, Central Shule Caulfield South

BOY: One of the fundamental Commandments in Judaism for Jewish boys is the Mitzvah of Brit Milah – Circumcision, bringing a newborn boy into the Covenant of Avraham. It is during this special time that the child is given his Hebrew name. The Bris is often followed by a celebratory L’Chaim.

Please contact Rabbi Shmuel on 0433 676 300 for any questions and if you would like him to attend the Bris. Should you wish to use the Shule for the bris, please contact the Shule Office on 03 9532 9180.

GIRL: The Hebrew naming of a Jewish child is considered a most profound spiritual moment. A girl’s name is officially given in Shule shortly after the birth when the father is called up to the Torah. This can take place at our weekday (Mon, Thurs or Rosh Chodesh) or Shabbat services. Often the new parents will invite extended family and friends to participate in the baby naming ceremony followed by a celebratory L’Chaim.

Please speak to the Rabbi or Rebbetzin for any questions or advice regarding a Hebrew name and to schedule the baby naming ceremony in Shule.
