THE CENTRAL SHULE CHOIR
The choir was formed in 2002 by Conductor ‘The Con’ Myron Blecher together with a wonderful bunch of Choristers who just love to sing.
They have been the resident choir at Central Shule, singing every Friday night for more than 20 years.
With a unique blend of modern pieces combined with classical compositions of yesteryear, their harmonious singing, together with the magnificent and soaring voice of our Chazzan Didi Levin, fills our Shule with soulful and uplifting sound, enhancing the beauty of our prayer services throughout the year and especially during the High Holidays.
Over the years they have sung at numerous venues throughout Australia and have performed at Bar Mitzvahs, weddings, Emmy Monash, as well as various Concerts with International Artists.

Chazzan Didi Levin
Since joining Central Shule in 2010, Chazzan Didi Levin has led our Shabbat and festival Shule services.
Didi’s warm, inclusive and dynamic style brings an energy to the Shule and creates an engaging environment of prayer and song.
Didi’s chazzanut is versatile. His performances include choral singing with the Central Shule Choir, solo sing alongs, bar/bat mitzvah ceremonies, chuppahs, concerts and events.
Didi aims for the Shule experience to be accessible, fun, and inspiring – to make Central Shule a place where people feel they want to be.
Born in London to a Rabbinic family, from an early age Didi was singing from the bimah at his parents’ Shule. His love for Shule and music grew organically over the years.
Didi is trained in chazzanut, classical and popular singing genres.
Didi moved to Australia in 2010, where he now lives with his wife Chevi and their three children, Meli, Livia and Sofia – who have all grown up in the Central Shule community. The Levins are actively involved in events and programs at the Shule.
Outside of Central Shule Didi practices as a lawyer.
