RABBI YITZHOK ISAAC RIESENBERG
Rabbi Yitzhok Isaac Riesenberg was the founding Rabbi of Central Shule in 1998 and his leadership saw phenomenal growth, from a fledging community of a handful of South African immigrants to becoming one the largest and most vibrant Shules in Australia.
Together with Rebbetzin Sheyna they served the community with wisdom, compassion and devotion from 1998 to 2022.
In 2022 they handed over the position of Senior Rabbi & Rebbetzin to Rabbi Shmuel & Rivki Karnowsky and Rabbi Riesenberg assumed the title of Founding Rabbi.
GIRL: The Hebrew naming of a Jewish child is considered a most profound spiritual moment. A girl’s name is officially given in Shule shortly after the birth when the father is called up to the Torah. This can take place at our weekday (Mon, Thurs or Rosh Chodesh) or Shabbat services. Often the new parents will invite extended family and friends to participate in the baby naming ceremony followed by a celebratory L’Chaim.
Please speak to the Rabbi or Rebbetzin for any questions or advice regarding a Hebrew name and to schedule the baby naming ceremony in Shule.
